Babalwa Ngonyama is the Global CEO and major shareholder of Sinayo. Ngonyama is passionate, relatable, and solely focused on the development of leaders that are equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Ngonyama prides herself on her ability to inspire curiosity and spark the desire for education and development. Ngonyama has dedicated her career and her life to developing human intellect and creating a sustainable, equitable and just society.  

Ngonyama has occupied diverse leadership roles as a lead independent director and chairperson of various committees of South African entities at various stages of their lifecycles. The acclaimed CEO is also the founding chairperson of the African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA), an organization whose key aim is to accelerate the development of black female Chartered Accountants. She currently serves on its Advisory Board. 

In addition to leading Sinayo, Babalwa was a board member of Vukile Properties and a lead independent director of Hollard Life, Hollard Insurance, Kagiso Tiso Holdings and Vukile Properties. She was the audit committee chair of the latter two organisations. She was also a board member and the committee chair of Aspen and a lead independent director at Implats Ltd. Previously an audit partner at Deloitte’s, Safika Holdings Group CFO, and Chief Internal Auditor at Nedbank Ltd. She also served as the Chairperson of the University of Cape Town Council.  

Khumo Portia Shongwe, Chairman at Sinayo Wealth, has occupied executive roles since 2003. She began her executive career as Head of Transformation at De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBCM) in 2003 and later joined Lonmin Plc, South Africa Operations, in 2005 as Vice President, Human Capital. She then moved to Royal Bafokeng Holdings, where she initially served as Senior Advisor before being promoted to Executive Director and becoming a member of the Board. Currently, she is a businesswoman invested in hospitality and financial services, serves on boards as an independent non-executive, teaches at business schools, and is actively involved in her own business ventures.
 
Her passion lies in human development, particularly in education and leadership development, and she is drawn to companies that prioritize developing their talent and the communities in which they operate. Khumo is also a registered clinical psychologist with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), a fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI), an affiliate of the Aspen Institute in Colorado, USA, and a member of the Institute of Directors SA (IoD).

Jacques holds a B.Com Honors in Investment Management and an M.Com in Business Management. He completed the CFA/ESG Investment certificate and has spent 30 years in financial markets as a trader, analyst, fund manager, and chief investment officer. He is experienced in trading equity, fixed interest, forex, convertible bonds, and derivatives. As an analyst, he won the Financial Mail Analyst of the Year award in Quantitative Research in 1998. While at Stanlib Asset Management as Head of Quantitative Research and Investments, he won the Symmetry award for the best market-neutral hedge fund in 2004.

He joined T-Capital as Head of Hedge Funds in 2005, and the long-short hedge fund he launched in 2007/8 won the Hedge Fund Intelligence award for the best new fund of the year in 2008. He later joined Consilium Capital and became Chief Investment Officer, managing a diverse investment team. Funds under management included the Consilium World Wide Flexible Unit Trust Fund, the local Flexible Unit Trust Fund, and the segregated Reg.28 funds. He was awarded the IMBASA Yegolide Award for the best-balanced fund manager in 2016. Jacques specializes in producing quantitative research, trading ideas, and bespoke research. As the Director of Sinayo Wealth, Jacques will also take charge of Sinayo’s ESG offering, a key area of differentiation for Sinayo Securities going forward.
